Victoria’s New “Sexting” Laws to Protect Minors:
Victoria is to become the first state in Australia to implement new laws surrounding “sexting”, the act of sharing sexually explicit images over the Internet or by phone.

- prosecuting them for child pornography offences and
- making it illegal to share intimate images without consent.
It may seem like a harsh approach to the situation, but Law Reform Committee chair, Clem Newton Brown, said that through the current system, minors taking and sharing explicit images of themselves were unintentionally being captured by the Crimes Act.
